So there are 134 days until my 26th birthday! Eek! On the downward slope to 30. So crazy how time just flies by you. Doesn’t stop for anyone! I was sitting here thinking about the many things that I want to do in my life. Grow with God, be more intentional and present with Cameron, get healthy and have a healthy household, grow long, beautiful luscious hair lol, go to Disney World, fall in love…
Some of these things will come in God’s precious timing of course.
But a lot of these goals and dreams are within my own reach with some good, INTENTIONAL daily choices.
It takes 30 days to create a new habit…
90 days for a complete transformation…
And I have 134 days…
That is PLENTY of time to work on me and become more of who I want to be by 26. The real question is…Do I have it in me to get it done?
Day after day, month after month, year after year, I am always saying to myself the same things that I want to do over and over, but never doing it. “I really want to be a runner.” “I wish I could spend more time with Cam.” “Man, I really want to write more!”
Do you ever find yourself making statements like this? Wanting to do this and do that. The topic comes up in a conversation among peers and you’re like “Ooooo, I’ve always wanted to do that!”
STOP TALKING ABOUT IT AND JUST DO IT!
It really is that simple.
The issue is that we talk ourselves out of getting things done. We talk ourselves out of putting in the work.
“Oh, it’s too hard.” “Ugh, I really don’t feel like it.” “What I’m doing isn’t even close to looking as great as what she’s doing. Blah blah Blah”
Why do we do this? Maybe I should just speak for myself and not bring you into this even though I KNOW I am not alone in this! lol But Jaleccia, WHY DO YOU DO THIS? Do you think you are not capable? Are the people that are doing what you want to do better than you? Does God prefer them over you?
The answer is no!
We are more than capable of becoming who we want to be, its just a matter of putting in the work to make it happen! It’s about asking yourself who you want to be and are you willing TO DO what it takes to be that person.
YES I AM!
It’s time to make things happen! It’s time for CHANGE!
Who do I want to be or what do I want to do?
- I want to grow with God, be more intentional and present with Cameron, be healthy, become a runner, read 5-7 books, be 165 pounds and blog consistently once a week. ALL by my 26th birthday! (Realistic and Attainable Goals)
Create Action Steps
- My birthday goals require:
- Daily morning time with God
- Devoted Mondays to Cameron to build our relationship (no outside distractions)
- Workout 5x’s a week/ Run 3x’s a week
- Read at least 10 pages a day
- Meal prep on Sundays and follow food plan throughout the week
- Write 2 blogs weekly to stay a week ahead
Will these require me to be intentional and to put in effort? YES! Will it be worth it? Yes!
Imagine and Believe
Write down the benefits of being that person you want to come! You can do this just on a piece of paper or do a vision board, vision notebook, etc. My son and I made some vision boards which we love, and I’m actually doing another one that deals with just my life and these goals listed above!
Doing this helps you see past your excuses! Past your negative thoughts about yourself. Past what you THINK you can’t do! Sweetie, there is NOTHING that you can’t do!
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. -Phillipians 4:13
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. -Ephesians 3:20
God’s mighty power and strength is at work IN us! So we are more than capable to do anything we set our minds to. But the first step that you have to make for yourself is to SET your mind to it and GO! Get it done!
